MD, PhD, University Doctor, Department of Endocrinology, Division of Internal Medicine, University of Patras
Graduate of the University of Patras School of Medicine (2005), where he completed his doctoral dissertation on the role of the Nrf2 transcription factor in mediating the pleiotropic/cytoprotective effects of statins (2010). He then continued as a postdoctoral researcher, funded by a Marie Curie grant from the European Commission, and later as an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh, USA (2011–2017), where he elucidated the role of molecular pathways that regulate the response to oxidative stress (Nrf2) and cellular differentiation (Notch) in insulin resistance at the adipocyte and hepatocyte levels. She completed her residency in Endocrinology at the University General Hospital of Patras (2017–2021), part of which he spent at the University Hospital of Lausanne on a six-month fellowship from the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS-Endocrinology), where he currently works. He has received awards for his research from the Hellenic Society of Endocrinology, the European Society of Endocrinology, the Obesity Society (USA), and an Early Investigators Award.
