A graduate of the University of Patras (MD, PhD), he continued his studies at the School of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, for 6 years, conducting postdoctoral research
on the role of molecular cytoprotective pathways in the metabolism and development of obesity and type 2 diabetes, where he was appointed Research Assistant Professor.
He then completed his clinical training in Endocrinology at the University General Hospital of Patras and subsequently worked for three years as an endocrinology resident
and asprincipal investigator at the University Hospital of Lausanne, Switzerland, specializing in obesity.
